Sheth Varjivandas Madhavdas Kapol Boarding School Trust, popularly known as VMKB was established in the year 1896 by Sheth Shri Tribhovandas and Sheth Shri Jagmohandas in the memory of their father Sheth Shri Varjivandas Madhavdas, a well-known philanthropist from the renowned Rupji Dhanji family of the Kapol community. During its formative years, the institution was nurtured by Sheth Shri Tribhovandas himself. After his sad demise, his younger brother Sheth Shri Jagmohandas not only assumed the responsibility of managing the institution but also donated generously to make it financially independent. This philanthropic legacy was then continued by his wife Lady Laxmibai over the years.

The founding fathers of VMKB had envisioned this institution to be a place where bright Kapol students would be provided with all requisite facilities and infrastructure to pursue their academic goals. Their vision has now blossomed into a reality as VMKB, which earlier housed 7 students and now has a capacity for overall personality development of 100 plus students and has won accolades from all over for its contribution in the upliftment of the Kapol and many non-kapol students and the society at large.
